The scientific dissemination series Classical Talks returns to Gáldar for its fourth edition, featuring three free conferences on archaeology, history, and classical literature at the Agáldar Museum.

Starting April 11, the Agáldar City History Museum will serve as a meeting point between the classical world and contemporary society. This initiative, now in its fourth edition in the municipality, will bring together experts in philology, history, and archaeology across three sessions scheduled for 6:00 PM.
The primary goal is to make academic knowledge accessible to the general public. The first conference, on April 11, will be led by archaeologist and researcher Lidia García Merenciano, who will present ‘Archaeology. What is left to discover?’.
The series continues on May 9 with Alejandro Martín Bolaños, a researcher from the University of La Laguna, who will analyze the role of humor in Latin historiography with his talk ‘Irony and Humor in Tacitus’. The final session, on May 23, will feature historian Óscar Hernández Abreu, focusing on debunking myths surrounding the Roman emperor Caligula.
This project is promoted by the Spanish Society of Classical Studies (SEEC) in the Canary Islands, in collaboration with the Gáldar City Council through its Museums Department. All conferences are free and open to the public until full capacity is reached, with no prior registration required, aiming to bring the Greco-Latin legacy closer to citizens.
