The Tenerife Archaeological Museum celebrated International Archaeology Day on August 19th with a guided tour through its halls.

On the occasion of International Archaeology Day, celebrated on August 18th, the Archaeological Museum of Tenerife, in collaboration with the Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering of the Tenerife Island Council, organized a visit on August 19th. The tour provided an opportunity to explore the rich archaeological heritage housed within the institution.
The activity, guided by conservator Mª Candelaria Rosario Adrián, focused on discovering the interesting archaeological pieces and anthropological remains on display. These findings offer insights into the lives of the earliest inhabitants of the Archipelago, including their material culture, beliefs, social organization, diseases, and artistic expressions.
The visit served as an engaging and participatory learning space, encouraging questions about how archaeology reconstructs our past from preserved remains. The importance of protecting these vestiges was emphasized, as each archaeological piece tells a fragment of our history.
Celebrating this date by visiting the museum also acknowledges the work of professionals who research, conserve, and disseminate heritage, reminding us that protecting the past helps us better understand the present.
