Dreamland Gran Canaria will face FC Barcelona this Sunday at 5:00 PM in a match corresponding to round 29 of the Liga Endesa. The coach of the island team, Néstor García, stated that his team will approach the game without complexes, despite the formidable opponent, following significant improvements in recent weeks.
The Argentine coach explained that his players feel more liberated on the court, a factor that was crucial in their recent 100-101 victory against Unicaja Málaga. This win has been fundamental in alleviating the yellow team's delicate league standing, boosting their morale and team spirit.
“"Some days you see the basket like a bathtub, and other times it shrinks to the size of a wedding ring. I believe we have improved our aim because we are playing more freely."
García was particularly pleased with the victory in Málaga, emphasizing the team's unwavering belief until the end of the game. He highlighted his players' ability to keep believing, pressuring, and stealing decisive balls, hoping to replicate a similar performance at the Palau Blaugrana.
The coach reiterated his philosophy of competing without complexes, stating that on the court, it's “five against five.” While acknowledging the potential of the Catalan team, especially in outside shooting and inside play, he reaffirmed that Dreamland Gran Canaria will seek to impose its own game rhythm.
The team's primary objective remains staying in the ACB league. The last two victories have injected enthusiasm into the locker room and solidified a “very good spirit” within the group. García also mentioned that, since his arrival, he has avoided checking the standings despite the proximity of the relegation zone.
Regarding team news, American point guard Brandon Jefferson will travel with the team and could make his debut after completing his first training session. Conversely, French player Andrew Albicy will be out due to a minor injury that will prevent him from playing in the Palau Blaugrana, though he is expected to return to training next week.
