Eight Arrested in Gran Canaria for Transporting 3,000 kg of Hashish on a Narco-boat

The National Police intercepted the vessel off the northern coast of the island after a chase that ended at Martorell beach.

The National Police have arrested eight people off the northern coast of Gran Canaria for transporting approximately 3,000 kilograms of hashish on a narco-boat, following a pursuit from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Sardina del Norte.

The operation took place during the early hours of Monday, between four and seven in the morning, covering the area between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Gáldar. Officers detected a semi-rigid vessel traveling at high speed with eight individuals on board and nearly a hundred bales inside.
To achieve the arrest of those involved, security forces fired several warning shots into the air. The pursuit concluded at Martorell beach, located in Sardina del Norte, where the crew attempted to unload the drugs.
The arrests occurred around 6:30 AM. In addition to the National Police, local police and civil guard units participated in the operation. After the seizure, the substance was weighed, confirming it was 90 bales with a total weight of 2,800 kilograms of hashish.
The investigation into this drug trafficking case remains open and under judicial secrecy, according to authorities.
