The Cabildo de Gran Canaria is set to be the largest team in the CANARIAS7 Business Race, with 264 participants, demonstrating its commitment to sports, coexistence, and team spirit among its workers in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The tenth edition of the CANARIAS7 Business Race, organized by the newspaper, will feature significant participation from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. A total of 264 employees from various areas and services of the institution have registered for the popular event to be held this Sunday, May 17.
Participants will choose between the 5 and 10-kilometer modalities, all sharing the common goal of enjoying an experience that promotes healthy habits and strengthens bonds among colleagues outside the work environment. This initiative aims to foster camaraderie and physical activity.

"We discuss our training, have a laugh, and let off some steam."

A former mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, currently associated with the Cabildo, will participate for the second time in the race. He highlighted the race's route, which he considers “different from other competitions,” and the event's excellent organization. He will run the five-kilometer modality, opting for shorter distances to “take care of his knees and tendons.”
The former mayor emphasizes the value of such initiatives in strengthening coexistence within institutions and companies, viewing them as a tool for cohesion and motivation comparable to team-building activities. Personally, he tries to train during the week to maintain physical fitness and arrive in good condition, though he admits he seeks to “lose a couple of kilos” to avoid physical discomfort. He approaches the experience with a positive attitude, asserting that sports always have a beneficial impact on both health and the work environment.
The organization of this race is made possible by the support of various entities such as the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports; the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, through the Insular Sports Institute; and the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council, through its Municipal Sports Institute. It also has the sponsorship of companies like Binter Canarias, Disa, Aena, and CaixaBank, and the collaboration of HPS, Powerade, Fonteide, Volkswagen Canarias, Bull Hotels, Centro Comercial Las Arenas, and Yamaha-Grupo Rafael Afonso.
The event maintains its charitable nature, donating one euro from each official race registration to the Canarian Yrichen Foundation, an NGO dedicated to the prevention and treatment of addictions. Furthermore, the full amount of the Children's Race registration, five euros per child, will also be donated to this foundation.
