This measure aims to manage the high concentration of people and vehicles anticipated in the island's midlands and peaks during these astronomical events. The road closure will be in effect from 1:00 PM on Wednesday until midnight on Friday, August 14th, extending to facilitate observation of the Perseids on the nights following the eclipse.
The Cabildo will reinforce surveillance, security, and traffic regulation in key locations such as Gáldar, Guía, Artenara, Tamadaba, Agaete, Pico de las Nieves, Pico de la Gorra, Las Mesas, Corral de los Juncos, Bailico, Llano del Salado, and Altos del Pozo, as well as nearby recreational areas.
The objective is to prevent high attendance from hindering mobility and emergency service access. Additional personnel will be deployed if necessary based on visitor numbers.
The institution advises against traveling to the peaks to view the eclipse, as the phenomenon can be seen from any location in the archipelago with adequate visibility. They recommend avoiding unnecessary trips to forest areas and protected natural spaces.
