Following their relegation to the Primera FEB, Dreamland Gran Canaria is seeking to lay the foundations for its new sports project and has set its sights on Francesc Solana Tomás (Lleida, January 3, 1972). The Catalan executive, who recently left Morabanc Andorra after 16 years, is known for his ability to build successful teams and promote them to the ACB in short periods.
Solana's track record leading the technical area of Morabanc Andorra is notable. He joined the club in 2010 when they were in LEB Plata, and alongside coach Joan Peñarroya, achieved promotion to LEB Oro within two years. He subsequently consolidated the team in the elite, returning them to the ACB after an 18-season absence.
During his tenure, the Andorran club not only established itself in the league but also achieved milestones such as qualifying for the Copa del Rey and participating in European competitions, reaching the semifinals of the Eurocup twice. Despite a subsequent relegation in 2022, Solana demonstrated his resilience by securing another promotion to the ACB the following season, solidifying his reputation as a manager capable of reviving projects.
Francesc Solana's experience in rebuilding teams and his knowledge of national basketball position him as a key figure for CB Gran Canaria, which is facing a period of restructuring. His arrival at the yellow club would represent a significant boost to tackle the upcoming challenges.
