The Gran Canaria Arena became the international epicenter for combat sports, hosting the prestigious K1 World Max, where Spaniard Sergio ‘Dinamita’ Sánchez was crowned champion.

More than two thousand spectators filled the Gran Canaria Arena for a K1 night that has now become part of Canarias' sporting history. The event, which served as the final stop of the world circuit before the final phase in Japan, saw Spanish fighter Sergio ‘Dinamita’ Sánchez crowned champion after a thrilling final against Portugal's Fabio Veiga.
The island thus established itself as a reference venue for major international sporting events, hosting the tournament after its stops in countries such as Italy, Brazil, Australia, Greece, Romania, Holland, and Russia. The atmosphere in the Gran Canarian venue was charged with intensity and spectacle, with a completely engaged crowd.
The standout figure of the night was the Basque fighter Sergio Sánchez, who defeated Fabio Veiga in a closely contested final decided in an extra round. With this victory, Sánchez also secured his qualification for the semifinals of the world circuit finals to be held at the end of the year in Yokohama. He had previously overcome Frenchman Alan Leveque.
The Canarian public also strongly supported local fighter Alcorac Caballero, who narrowly missed the final after a spectacular bout against Fabio Veiga, also decided in an extra round. The fans created an atmosphere of a true K1 and martial arts festival.
The program also included several 'Super Fights' and the participation of young talents such as Alejandro Delgado, Marcos Betancort, Cynthia Curquejo, Cynthia Monzón, Bryan Maceo, and Aythami Medina. In another of the anticipated bouts, Sergio Alcaide clearly defeated Antonio Campoy.
Beyond the sport, the spectacle incorporated musical performances, exhibitions, and references to Canarian traditions, reinforcing the local identity of an event followed by fans from various countries. The Minister of Sports for the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Aridany Romero, described the day as "historic" for its international impact on the island's image.
The K1 World Max was organized by Fight Events in conjunction with the Canarian Kickboxing and Muay Thai Federation, with institutional support from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the Government of Canarias.
