The Council of Gran Canaria has approved a subsidy of 600,000 euros for the Gáldar City Council to construct 63 new homes in the town of Sardina.

The initiative, to be developed in the Lomo de la Cal area, is complemented by a municipal contribution of 40,000 euros. The objective is to facilitate housing access for vulnerable families in the municipality.
The mayor of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, explained that this project follows the model successfully implemented with the development of 52 homes in El Roque. According to the councilor for the area, Eleazar Rodríguez, the city council acquires and transfers the land for free, the Council's Housing Department finances the urbanization, and the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Housing Institute, carries out the construction.
The 52 homes in El Roque are expected to be under construction before December 31st of this year, while another seven in Caideros are planned for allocation before July. Additionally, the City Council recently acquired 70,000 square meters of land from Sareb, distributed across 20 plots, which also include complementary uses such as parking for the health center or educational facilities.
