The island of Gran Canaria has achieved a prominent position in the adoption of electric vehicles, accounting for 51% of these automobiles across the Canary Islands. This leadership was emphasized during the inauguration of the ninth edition of the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, a key event for the sector.
In addition to the number of vehicles, Gran Canaria also stands out for its charging infrastructure. The island boasts the highest number of facilities for recharging electric cars, and it is anticipated that this figure will exceed 100 charging points before the end of the year.
“"We are contributing to making a cleaner island possible, less dependent on external sources and fossil fuels, and generating new employment opportunities in an increasingly attractive sector."
The Electric Vehicle Show, known as Movelec, was held at the Agüimes Exhibition Center and offered professionals and the general public the opportunity to explore the future of sustainable transport. The event featured the participation of about twenty companies showcasing vehicles and services associated with 100% electric mobility.
The fair included presentations and roundtables on current topics, such as available aid for purchasing electric vehicles. Practical activities were also offered, such as efficient driving workshops, where experts shared tips for optimizing the use of these vehicles, covering everything from cars and motorcycles to electric scooters and bicycles.
