To ensure mobility and safety during the papal visit, the island institution has established these complementary parking areas. Citizens can leave their vehicles at the Tafira University Campus, Alcampo Shopping Center, Las Terrazas Shopping Center, El Rincón Interchange, the area around the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, and in Arucas. All these zones will be connected by shuttle services to facilitate access to the scheduled events.
The Cabildo urges the public to limit intercity travel, particularly on the GC-1 and GC-3 highways, which will experience temporary closures due to the papal entourage's passage and attendee movements. It is recommended to plan capital city access in a staggered manner, suggesting specific times for those traveling from Telde, the south, and southeast of the island to avoid peak hours.
The General Directorate of Traffic has planned dynamic closures on the GC-1 and GC-3 at key times of the day, coinciding with the entourage's movements. The Cabildo emphasizes the convenience of prioritizing public transport over private vehicles to minimize traffic disruptions.
Guaguas Municipales will operate special shuttle services to Siete Palmas from strategic city points, while Global will strengthen intercity connections with increased frequencies and standby resources. Buses organized by parishes and town councils will also be added.
Parking areas closest to the Gran Canaria Stadium, such as those at the Siete Palmas Shopping Center, Hipercor, and Infecar, will be reserved for previously authorized vehicles with a minimum occupancy of four people and for registered attendees of the mass.
As extraordinary measures to reduce pressure on the road network, the implementation of teleworking in regional, island, and municipal administrations, the closure of public service offices except for essential services, and the suspension of academic activities have been agreed upon.
