A young couple of nurses, originally from Malaga and Valencia respectively, have shared their astonishment following their first visit to the south of Gran Canaria. Far from the preconceived notion that the island was limited to its extensive beaches, both have discovered a wealth of scenery and a variety of environments that have captivated them.
Chema Vivas, one of the healthcare professionals, described the experience as "beautiful" and "surprising." He noted that beyond the coastline, they encountered "impressive mountains, abundant vegetation, and very varied landscapes," aspects they did not anticipate and which have positively marked their stay.
“"Before coming, you think of beaches, but then you find impressive mountains, lots of vegetation, and very varied landscapes. That's something you don't expect and it surprises you quite a bit."
The island's diversity has been a key factor in their impression. Accustomed to associating the archipelago primarily with sun and sea, the couple has valued the natural richness found during their explorations. Despite it being their first time in the south of the island, both express a desire to return to explore more thoroughly.
“"We've been left wanting to see many more things. It's always the same, vacations feel too short."
Isabel Beltrán, who had previously visited Lanzarote, highlighted the welcoming nature of the Canarian people. She compared the open and extroverted character of the locals to the closeness she perceives in Andalusia, which has made them feel comfortable and at ease during their stay.
This trip arose spontaneously after they finished their Nursing studies. At 21 years old and on the verge of entering the job market, the couple has used these weeks to disconnect and celebrate the end of an important chapter in their lives.
Both recommend visiting Canarias, and specifically Gran Canaria, for the quality of life, the beaches, and the overall experience. "We loved it," the couple summarized.
