Dreamland Gran Canaria has announced the departure of Jaka Lakovic as its head coach, following nearly four years of success that included a European title and multiple qualifications for final stages.

The Slovenian coach, who arrived on the island in the summer of 2022 from German club ratiopharm Ulm, has led the team in a total of 213 matches across various competitions, including the Liga Endesa, Playoff, Copa del Rey, EuroCup, and FIBA Basketball Champions League.
During his tenure, Lakovic guided the team to win the BKT EuroCup in 2023, in addition to reaching another continental final and the semifinals of the Copa del Rey 2025. Under his leadership, the club competed in the Liga Endesa title playoffs for three seasons and managed to qualify for all league final stages and Copa editions. He also ensured the team played in European playoffs consecutively for three years, a feat not achieved since the 2017-2018 season.

The Balkan coach leaves an indelible mark on the club's history.

Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria has expressed its gratitude for Lakovic's professionalism and commitment over these four years, wishing him the best in his future professional and personal endeavors. While a new coach is sought, Víctor García will temporarily take charge of the team.
