Man Arrested in Gran Canaria with Drugs Destined for Barcelona Exchange

The National Police intervened following a fight alert, uncovering a large-scale drug trafficking scheme.

A man was apprehended in Gran Canaria with a substantial quantity of narcotics, including amphetamines and methamphetamines, which he planned to transport to Barcelona for a drug exchange, as reported by the National Police.

The police operation began on April 16, 2026, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, after a 091 call reported a fight at a residence. Officers from the Local Citizen Security Brigade were dispatched to investigate the situation.
During the intervention, one of the individuals present alerted officers about the possession of narcotics by the arrested person. This informant also disclosed that the suspect intended to travel to the airport to transport the drugs to Barcelona, where he planned to exchange them for a higher quality substance, with the aim of returning to the island with a larger quantity.
Following this information, a security operation was established, leading to the interception of the suspect's vehicle. In the car's trunk, officers found a suitcase containing a container with 257 grams of amphetamine. Additionally, 3,950 euros in cash, in various denominations, were also discovered in the vehicle.

Seized: 257 grams of amphetamine, 128.39 grams of MDMA, 22.21 grams of ketamine, 29.8 grams of marijuana, 720.91 grams of methamphetamine, 26 ecstasy pills, as well as other substances and 3,950 euros in cash.

Subsequently, the Narcotics Group of the Local Judicial Police Brigade requested a judicial warrant to search the detainee's home, suspecting it might be used as a drug dealing point. At the residence, officers seized 128.39 grams of MDMA, 22.21 grams of ketamine, 29.8 grams of marijuana, 720.91 grams of methamphetamine, 26 ecstasy pills, 29.15 grams of mephedrone, three bottles of popper, and 30 milliliters of GHB.
The National Police confirmed that the individual was operating as a drug distribution point. After being brought before the judicial authority, the judge ordered his provisional release with precautionary measures, as the investigation continues.
