Maritime Rescue successfully carried out the rescue of twelve sub-Saharan individuals, including two minors, who were traveling in a dinghy detected near the coast of Gran Canaria.

The rescue took place last Tuesday, when the vessel was spotted by the SIVE radar approximately 13 kilometers southwest of the Arguineguín pier. The occupants, all men, were disembarked at the port at 10:30 PM.
According to sources from the state society and 112, the dinghy was detected around 9:00 PM. Following the alert, Maritime Rescue dispatched the vessel Guardamar Urania to assist the migrants.
Upon their arrival in Gran Canaria, the rescued individuals received medical and humanitarian assistance. Despite the journey, all were reported to be in good health, as stated by the sources.
Additionally, Maritime Rescue is collaborating with Moroccan authorities in the search for another boat carrying approximately thirty occupants. This vessel issued a distress call early Tuesday morning, when it was located more than 113 kilometers northwest of Tan Tan, in the southwest of the African country.
To intensify the search for this inflatable boat, which has not yet been located by the Moroccan Navy, the Sasemar 103 aircraft was activated. The plane departed from Las Palmas at 9:00 AM this Wednesday to join the search efforts.
