The insular secretary, Agustín Arencibia, presented the new body at an event held in the Gran Canarian capital before some 200 people. Arencibia noted that work has been done in recent months to form this executive, which until now was non-existent on the island, despite it being its "origin and strength".
Arencibia stressed that the team combines "experience and youth," and that its members have presented their work in institutions and their proposals to achieve the set objectives. The party claims to have "tools and proposals" to lead institutions and address key issues such as housing access, opportunities for young people, and tourism organization.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of tourism as the archipelago's main source of income, underscoring the need for "environmentally respectful" development. Furthermore, it was highlighted that the wealth generated by the sector should be distributed among the island's citizens and not exclusively benefit external companies.
“"We have strived for implementation in the other islands, but Gran Canaria had been somewhat neglected."
The new executive is completed by Isabel Guerra as insular deputy secretary, Juan Manuel Gabella as Organization Secretary, Laura Padrón as deputy Organization Secretary, and Carmelo Ramírez as Implementation Secretary. The body is also composed of ten local secretariats, three insular councilors from the Cabildo, two young members, members of the insular tagoror, regional deputies for Gran Canaria, and three councilors from Teror, Telde, and La Aldea.
