The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Gran Canaria, scheduled for June 11, 2026, now has a detailed plan including stops at key locations on the island. The pontiff will begin his agenda after arriving at Gando Airport around 10:50 AM, where he will receive an institutional welcome.
Subsequently, he will travel to Arguineguín, a symbolic enclave linked to the Atlantic migratory route. There, around 11:40 AM, he will meet with associations and individuals involved in migrant reception, and deliver a speech focused on the dignity of migrants. Following this event, the journey will continue towards the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
In the capital, the agenda will proceed to the Cathedral of Santa Ana, where at 1:30 PM he will hold an internal meeting with bishops, priests, deacons, religious figures, seminarians, and pastoral agents. After this meeting, a lunch will be held at the Episcopal Palace.
The highlight of the day will be the Eucharist, scheduled for 6:30 PM at the Gran Canaria Stadium. It is expected to last 90 minutes and will feature a special stage setup on the football field. The Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra and its choir will provide music for the celebration.
Before the mass, the stadium's annex will host a Fan Zone starting at 2:00 PM, with doors opening at 12:30 PM. This reception and gathering space will offer music, Canarian culture, and a welcoming atmosphere for thousands of faithful.
The Fan Zone's artistic program will include Los Gofiones, representing traditional Canarian music; the verse-maker Yeray Rodríguez along with Domingo “El Colorao”, Javier Cerpa, and Cristina Ramos, connecting with oral tradition; Hakuna Group Music, for a younger audience and the expression of faith; and La Clandestina, with popular and festive Canarian music. At the Arguineguín pier, Pedro Manuel Afonso will perform, linked to the message of welcome.
