The Rally Islas Canarias, part of the World Rally Championship, has boosted the local economy, with fans spending considerable amounts on merchandise and revitalizing local businesses.

The celebration of the Rally Islas Canarias, which for the second consecutive year is part of the World Rally Championship, has led to a notable increase in commercial activity on the island. Thousands of motor racing enthusiasts, coming from various parts of Spain, Europe, and the Canary Islands themselves, have gathered in the fan zone and the service park, located next to the Gran Canaria Stadium.
In this area, merchandise stores have been a key attraction, drawing fans looking to take home a souvenir from the event. Nearby businesses have also experienced a significant increase in customers in the days leading up to and during the competition, demonstrating the positive impact of the rally on the local economy.

"We spent almost 300 euros on jackets, t-shirts, flags, and some keychains and magnets."

The official rally store, offering a wide range of products from 80-euro jackets to 2-euro stickers, has reported continuous sales. Other popular items include beach towels, caps, plaques, thermoses, plush toys, and mugs. Additionally, stands from automotive brands such as Ford, Toyota, and Hyundai, along with the WRC itself, have also sold specific products and model cars.
A rally store employee noted that public attendance has been constant, with a maximum expenditure recorded per person of 300 euros, including gifts for the whole family. A higher presence of local fans was observed at the beginning of the week, followed by an increase in foreign visitors as the event progressed.
The passion for motor racing is not limited to Spanish fans. A group of friends from Ireland, for example, traveled to Gran Canaria to follow the World Rally, spending around 100 euros each on items such as t-shirts and jackets. Their stay in the Las Canteras area cost them approximately 700 euros for accommodation.
The economic impact has extended beyond souvenir shops, also benefiting catering businesses in the Siete Palmas area and Fondos de Segura street. Bars, burger joints, and pizzerias have experienced a significant increase in their clientele, especially at lunchtime, during this special week marking the 50th anniversary of the Rally Islas Canarias.
