The Cabildo de Gran Canaria is carrying out a forest fire simulation in the highlands near San Mateo, specifically around the Pico de La Gorra, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

This practical exercise aims to evaluate and optimize the coordination among the various agencies that typically respond to such emergencies. The activity is part of the high-risk season for forest fires, which this year began on June 1st and will continue until September 30th.
The Forest Fire Operational Unit of the Cabildo's Department of Environment is leading the coordination for this drill. Response mechanisms for potential emergencies will be tested.
During the exercise, various ground resources and a significant deployment of air assets will be involved. Authorities have urged the public not to be alarmed by the presence of helicopters, emergency vehicles, or other resources, as this is solely a planned and controlled drill.
