Graphic designer Texiade, originally from Agaete, has gained recognition for his vibrant style and deep connection to the cultural identity of the Canary Islands. Since 2022, he has led his own design studio, building a career that began after studying industrial design engineering and nurturing an artistic passion since childhood.
His career includes collaborations with brands, popular festivals, and cultural projects, but one of his most significant achievements has been the recent illustration of the emblematic Eidetesa palm tree for HiperDino, in partnership with the agency Monro Pixels. This commission has allowed Texiade to bring his creative universe to an everyday consumer product, transforming packaging into a narrative of identity.
For this illustration, Texiade drew inspiration from key figures such as Pepe Dámaso and César Manrique, who are fundamental references in the fusion of art, landscape, and Canarian culture. His proposal aims to connect with the visual memory of the archipelago while adding a contemporary touch to commercial illustration.
The designer celebrates the resurgence of 'Canariedad' (Canarian identity) in the current creative scene, where music, fashion, and graphic design are reclaiming their own symbols. "The Canary Islands are experiencing a moment of creative effervescence," he notes, advocating for more opportunities for professional illustrators and graphic designers to enhance the archipelago's artistic richness.
Despite the positive creative momentum, Texiade emphasizes the need for greater recognition of graphic design in the Canary Islands. He urges companies and institutions to value the professional work behind every visual identity or campaign. In this regard, he highlights the efforts of associations like DICA in raising the sector's profile.
Regarding artificial intelligence, Texiade acknowledges its impact on the volume of commissions, particularly for less demanding tasks. However, he does not view it as an absolute enemy but rather as a tool that, when integrated effectively, can enhance the creative process. "A client who opts for professional graphic design understands that a professional will provide the essence that a generalized tool cannot," he states.
A pending dream for Texiade is to contribute to the graphic image of the Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. As a carnival enthusiast since childhood, he dreams of seeing his posters featured in the capital's festival, advocating for calls for projects that prioritize the quality and creative judgment of industry professionals to further elevate the event's international projection.
