Gran Canaria hosts 'Legends of Sport' exhibition with 200 historical objects

The Plaza de la Música in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will host the third edition of ExpoDeca, from November 12th to 15th, featuring the 'Legends of Sport' exhibition.

The Canary Islands Activity and Sports Fair, ExpoDeca, celebrates its third edition from November 12th to 15th at the Plaza de la Música in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The event will include practices, exhibitions, competitions, an exhibition of brands and products, and talks at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus.
As part of the fair, the Las Arenas Shopping Center will host the exhibition 'Legends of Sport', organized by the Sports Museum Association. The exhibition will showcase around 200 items tracing the milestones and evolution of national and international sports. Admission will be free and available throughout the week of ExpoDeca during the shopping center's usual hours.
A space will also be dedicated to the exhibition of classic rally vehicles at the same venue, in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Automobile Museum.
ExpoDeca 2026 is promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, and organized by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, through Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria. It is sponsored by Fundación DISA, Provital, Binter, Tirma, Ybarra, and Citroën.
The 'Legends of Sport' exhibition features approximately 200 objects linked to major episodes in Spanish sports history. Highlights include three Olympic torches that have visited Spain (1968 and 1992), Miguel Induráin's Banesto team jersey, equipment from brothers Pau and Marc Gasol from the NBA, and football items such as Andrés Iniesta's boots and ball from the 2010 World Cup, the commemorative shirt from the 12-1 victory against Malta, and items from Vero Boquete.
The motorsport section includes equipment from Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso, as well as material from Carlos Sainz, Marc Gené, Toni Bou, and Ángel Nieto. Jorge Martínez Aspar's 125cc Aprilia will also be on display.
Tennis and golf will be represented by items from Rafa Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Manolo Santana, José María Olazábal, Sergio García, Jon Rahm, and Seve Ballesteros. The exhibition will also feature material from badminton champion Carolina Marín and athletes such as Ruth Beitia, Sandra Myers, Jesús García Bragado, Fermín Cacho, Javier Moracho, and María Pérez.
The exhibition also includes items from international stars such as Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Mbappe, Haaland, Karim Abdul Jabbar, Stephen Curry, Magic Johnson, Kevin Durant, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikonnen, and Valentino Rossi.
Usain Bolt's shoes from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will be displayed, along with the shoes of Mike Powell and Javier Sotomayor, and the shirt from Eliud Kipchoge's marathon world record.
The exhibition is complemented by photographic and audiovisual material, and audio guides accessible via QR code, narrated by sports journalists such as José María García, María Escario, José Ramón de la Morena, Paloma del Río, and Antonio Lobato.
The Sports Museum Association is a private initiative that has brought the 'Legends of Sport' exhibition to various national and international cities.
