The political group Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG) has expressed concern regarding the progress of rehabilitation works at the birthplace of poet Pedro García Cabrera in Vallehermoso, requesting details on execution and timelines.

During the recent ordinary plenary session, an island councilor from Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG) requested updated information from the Cabildo regarding the intervention being carried out at the renowned poet's home.
The request focused on understanding the degree of progress of the works and the estimated completion dates. This inquiry arises from concerns about potential delays in a project considered of great cultural significance for both the municipality of Vallehermoso and the entire island of La Gomera.
Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG) recalled that the property, acquired by the Cabildo Insular de La Gomera in 2010, remained abandoned for over a decade. It was thanks to pressure from citizens, the media, and opposition political parties that a rehabilitation project was launched in 2019. The goal is to transform it into a cultural space dedicated to the memory and recognition of the literary figure of Pedro García Cabrera.

"It is essential to ensure compliance with deadlines and the proper management of heritage projects funded with public money."
