The spokesperson for Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG), Aarón Rodríguez Ramos, has requested the appearance of Youth and Sports Counselor, Guillermo Medina Martín, before the Plenary Session of the Cabildo Insular de La Gomera to explain policies developed this legislature.

The political group Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG) has urged the Youth and Sports Counselor for the Gomera Socialist Group (ASG), Guillermo Medina Martín, to appear before the Plenary Session of the Cabildo Insular de La Gomera. The aim is for the counselor to provide a detailed report on the actions and policies implemented in the youth sector during the current legislative period.
This request follows an inquiry made by IxLG during the ordinary plenary session in March regarding youth measures. Medina Martín's response during the April 6, 2026 session was deemed insufficient, merely stating that “many extraordinary measures” had been carried out without further specifics.

"The content of the response is insufficient to thoroughly understand the policies developed, especially in an area as relevant as youth."

Aarón Rodríguez Ramos · Spokesperson for Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG)
Spokesperson Rodríguez Ramos emphasized that the situation of youth on the island is not a matter to be taken lightly, given the numerous challenges they face. Therefore, Iniciativa por La Gomera considers the counselor's initial response to be an “institutional disrespect” towards the Plenary Session of the Cabildo and the youth of La Gomera.
IxLG stresses the importance of clear and rigorous accountability for public policies aimed at youth, a sector they deem “strategic for the present and future of La Gomera.” The left-wing formation has affirmed its commitment to responsible opposition, demanding transparency and dedication to the island's young people.
