The activity focuses on the promotion and practice of disciplines such as Canary Islands wrestling (lucha canaria), pelotamano, pina, juego del palo, and bola canaria, all linked to the archipelago's sporting heritage. Fifth-grade schoolchildren from the municipality will have the opportunity to learn and experience these traditions.
The event will be attended by relevant institutional figures, including the Director General of Indigenous Sports, Lorena Hernández, accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Angélica Padilla, and the Councilor for Sports, Aday Herrera, underscoring the initiative's importance.
This encounter is part of the Canary Islands Month program, which, under the slogan ‘We Are Heritage of the Canary Islands’, aims to recognize and preserve the traditions that unite the archipelago. The initiative spans all islands with over 110 activities designed to bring Canary Islands history, identity, and legacy closer to the public.
The complete program for these celebrations is available on the Government of the Canary Islands website, as well as on the social media channels of the Presidency and the responsible departments, with daily updates.
