The Cabildo de La Gomera has prepared a special program to commemorate Book Day, highlighting local talent and performing arts with events that combine literature, music, and theater.

The activities scheduled for this week aim to merge the world of letters with artistic expressions such as music and musical theater. On Thursday, April 23, coinciding with the global celebration of books, the main event will take place at 8:00 PM in the Plenary Hall of the Cabildo.
During this event, the work La Magua de Guadá will be presented, a book that explores profound desolation through the story of a chambermaid nearing retirement. The narrative of the work is conceived as an act of resistance and an intergenerational dialogue connecting the islands of Tenerife and La Gomera with the coasts of Africa and Europe.
The literary gathering will feature musical accompaniment from the Dúo Docentes del CEMAJ, part of the Asociación Musical Arena y Jable, who will add a melodic touch to this celebration of island literature.
The program will continue on Friday, April 24, at the Auditorio Insular, where the company Habemus Teatro will present the musical El príncipe y el mendigo at 8:00 PM. This ambitious adaptation of the classic tale of identity exchange, set in 16th-century London, promises a spectacular staging.
The play, distinguished by its vibrant choreographies and original soundtrack, invites reflection on essential values such as equality, justice, and humanity. Admission to this musical performance will be free until the venue's capacity is reached.
