The island of La Gomera has concluded its winter season with exceptional figures, achieving an average occupancy rate of over 95% and a significant increase in visitor spending, reaching 190 euros per day.
The season, which spanned from October to Easter in April, has established itself as one of the longest and most stable in recent years. This success is attributed to sustained demand and the diversification of source markets.
“
"We are facing a particularly significant season, not only due to occupancy levels, but also its duration and the increase in spending, which consolidates a tourism model based on quality and sustainability."
The Minister of Tourism, Commerce, and Consumption, María Isabel Méndez, highlighted that the increase in average visitor spending, now at 190 euros daily, has had a direct and positive impact on the island's economy. Throughout the seven-month season, tourist activity maintained high occupancy levels, evenly distributed across the island, contributing to the destination's economic and social sustainability.
The island has maintained the strength of its traditional European markets, such as Germany, while also attracting tourists from new countries including France, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Additionally, domestic tourism has grown, especially during key periods like Easter, reinforcing the destination's stability throughout the season.
“
"The indicators not only reflect high occupancy, but also a very positive evolution in visitor behavior, with longer stays on the island — averaging over ten days — and higher spending linked to local experiences."
The segmented promotion strategy and market diversification will continue to be key pillars for consolidating a sustainable, competitive, and opportunity-generating tourism model across all municipalities of La Gomera.
