The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Federation of Transport Employers (FET), involved an insular investment of 50 thousand euros. The Minister of Mobility, Cristina Ventura, highlighted that the program seeks to remove the economic barrier to specialized training in professional transport, allowing residents to develop their careers on the island.
The program was divided into four modalities: five people were trained for the D permit and passenger CAP; eight, for the C permit and freight CAP; five, for the C permit; and another five, for the D permit.
Ventura emphasized the importance of the transport sector for La Gomera, stating that "the mobility of the population and the transport of goods require adequately prepared professionals. Supporting their training reinforces a service on which both the daily lives of our residents and the island's economic activity depend".
The minister announced that the Cabildo will continue the project in 2027 with new calls to expand access to this training and meet the sector's demand. "We want more people to access this opportunity and continue advancing in training offerings linked to La Gomera's transport needs," affirmed Ventura.
