The Lanzarote Health Services Management has consolidated the Centralized Technical Management (GTC), a platform that oversees and controls the facilities of its health buildings, improving energy efficiency and monitoring over 500 pieces of equipment.

After 25 years of technological evolution, the Management's Engineering and Maintenance service, attached to the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Health, has integrated over 500 pieces of equipment and control systems. The GTC, also known as BMS (Building Management System), centrally monitors and manages essential systems such as air conditioning, electrical supply, water installations, medical gases, and fire protection across the Molina Orosa Hospital, the Insular Hospital, Primary Care centers, and logistical buildings.
The system has seen significant growth in the last decade, coinciding with renovations and improvements in hospitals and health centers. It allows specialized staff to have centralized information, detect incidents, and act quickly, ensuring service continuity, especially in centers far from the main hospital.
One of the main benefits of the GTC is its contribution to energy efficiency. Continuous consumption monitoring allows for analysis of facility performance, identification of inefficiencies, and reduction of energy costs and associated emissions. The system also enables scheduling of operating and shutdown times for certain equipment and sends notifications for critical alarms, optimizing resource use and promoting more sustainable management.
The platform reflects the work of the Engineering and Maintenance service, with approximately 30 percent of integrations designed and implemented by the technical staff themselves. It uses standard protocols like Modbus and BACnet, facilitating the integration of equipment from different manufacturers and reducing reliance on proprietary technological solutions.
