The San Sebastián de La Gomera City Council has launched an ambitious project for the comprehensive renovation of Torre del Conde Park, with an investment of 600,000 euros, which also covers other urban areas.

The works, which began in March, are part of the Landscaping and Urban Furniture Project for the center of San Sebastián. This plan not only focuses on the emblematic Torre del Conde Park but also includes improvements in the surroundings of La Hila, Plaza de las Pimenteras, El Tanquito Park, and Barriada de la Villa, among others.

"The rehabilitation and renovation works for Torre del Conde Park, which were awarded at the end of 2025 and began last March, comprise a comprehensive reform of this space, in which the construction of public and adapted toilets for people with reduced mobility is already underway."

Angélica Padilla · Mayor of San Sebastián de La Gomera
Mayor Angélica Padilla highlighted that the intervention in the children's park includes a significant expansion and the replacement of all deteriorated play elements. Despite the start of works in March, efforts have been made to keep the play area open as long as possible to minimize inconvenience to families.
For his part, the Councilor for Public Works, Agustín Herrera, detailed that Torre del Conde Park will feature new urban furniture, in addition to the toilets and the expansion of the play area. A more modern and efficient integral irrigation system will be installed, and the lawn and garden areas will be renovated.

"The lawn area will receive special treatment, prioritizing soil conditioning, as the works include complete renovation before planting new grass. This is complemented by the cleaning and clearing of all park plots, where we will continue planting native species, as we have already done in other areas of the park over the last two years. The objective is to restore the original vegetation of Torre del Conde Park and make it a showcase for La Gomera's native flora once again."

In addition to the main project, the City Council is also executing the Landscaping and Urban Furniture Project in the neighborhoods of Tecina, La Gallarda, La Lomada, El Langrero, Las Galanas, and El Molinito. This second project, with a budget of 400,000 euros, aims to create new gardens and leisure and sports spaces, rehabilitate green areas and parks with new plantings, and incorporate and maintain urban furniture.
