The event is scheduled for 11:00 AM at the sales point of the Asociación La Cernícala, located at Paso Abajo 77. During the presentation, Sandra González will discuss her work with José Miguel Perera, a writer and coordinator of the El 7 de la lengua collection from Mercurio Editorial, which published the essay.
The heads of the Asociación La Cernícala will introduce the event, taking the opportunity to showcase their project. Following the discussion, a walk through one of the association's farms will be offered, extending the conversation into a natural setting.
González's hundred-page essay is the first dedicated to the renowned novel Panza de burro by Tenerife-born Andrea Abreu. In it, the author explores the critical perspective of two Canarian adolescent girls facing a rural reality that shapes their lives, addressing themes such as food, economic precariousness, sexuality, and female identity. A distinctive feature of the publication is the black and white illustrations by margullito herself, which offer a complementary visual interpretation of the novel.
The day will also include an eco-breakfast featuring organic and seasonal products from the organizing collective's farms. To participate in the breakfast, it is essential to notify in advance by calling 652 85 37 81. This activity, funded by the CIAB of the Cabildo de La Palma, aims not only to delve into a significant literary work but also into the peculiarities of Canarian society and the work of La Cernícala.
