The Government of the Canary Islands has declared a state of alert for rain in the western islands (El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Tenerife) and Gran Canaria starting tomorrow, Saturday, November 7th, at 9:00 PM. A pre-alert will be active for Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa due to the same phenomenon.

This decision is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and is implemented under the framework of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena Risks (PEFMA).
An episode of heavy and persistent rainfall is expected, associated with the passage of the high-impact storm Bruna. The phenomenon will begin on Saturday night, initially affecting the island of La Palma, and will spread eastward throughout Sunday, impacting all islands of the archipelago.
On La Palma, rainfall could be particularly intense and persistent, with accumulated amounts potentially exceeding 30 mm in 1 hour and 100 mm in 12 hours. In El Hierro, La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria, very heavy rainfall is expected, around 25 mm/h, and equally persistent. In Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa, intense rains of 20 mm/h or more are anticipated, though with less persistence than in the mountainous islands.
The Directorate General of Emergencies will continue to monitor the situation and will update the conditions of this declaration as necessary, depending on meteorological developments. This declaration will remain in effect until further notice.
