The Directorate General of Emergencies of the regional government has made this decision, which will be in effect at least until September 30th, based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other available sources. The measure is implemented under the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response for Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (Infoca).
This pre-alert declaration is activated because the period until the end of September is considered high risk for forest fires, according to Article 3.1 of Decree 180/2025 and section 2.10.1 of INFOCA. Authorities have indicated that the alert level may be modified depending on meteorological forecasts and risk analysis by competent civil protection and fire prevention bodies.
The public is reminded of the importance of following the self-protection recommendations provided by the Directorate General of Emergencies to prevent potential incidents.
