The Los Llanos de Aridane City Council is boosting reading among young people with the fifth edition of FestiLIJ Aridane, an event dedicated to children's and youth literature, taking place from April 9 to 12 at the Casa de la Cultura.

This initiative, aimed at students from the municipality's educational centers, seeks to spark interest in reading through a dynamic and entertaining approach. The Culture Councilor, Marlene González, emphasized the importance of this method in bringing books closer to young people.

"The project offers a learning and fun experience not commonly found in other initiatives of this kind, featuring a wide range of workshops, talks, games, etc."

The FestiLIJ Aridane program will be held in various locations, including schools and different rooms within the Casa de la Cultura. The festival will offer a diverse array of activities designed to stimulate creativity, such as improvisation duels, author talks, and radio programs. As a new feature this year, a sound play written specifically for the occasion will be recorded live before an audience.
Among the authors invited to this edition are British writer Steve Smallman, known for his collection The Little Sheep Who Came to Dinner; Anna Morató, author of the series When I Grow Up I Want to Be Happy; Margarita del Mazo, Sara Nicolás, Óscar Rull, Chiki Fabregat, and Javier Fernández Jiménez, among other prominent writers in children's and youth literature.
