The short film El país de los ciegos, directed by David Pantaleón, has been awarded the Star for Most Outstanding Short Film in the Andromeda section at the closing gala of the 21st Festivalito La Palma. Another significant award went to Felicitina: una sola dosis, by Dana Espiau, which received the Roberto Rodríguez Star for Most Outstanding Short Film in the Lyra section.
The attending audience also had a say in the awards. The Audience Star – Miguel Brito Award in Andromeda went to Los que esperan, by Daniel Naranjo. In the Lyra section, the audience's recognition was for El genio de la alegría, by Rita and Elías Cerdá Tusell, and Darío y Camila Martínez Gutiérrez.
This edition of the festival saw notable participation, bringing together around 300 participants and approximately 140 directors across a wide age range, making it one of the most crowded events in the history of Festivalito La Palma.
In addition to the main awards, numerous special mentions were given to recognize the direction, acting, art direction, sensitivity, experimentation, and adapted screenplay of various works presented during the festival week.
As a new feature, the winner of the audience vote in the Andromeda section will receive free training from the Escuela Fuera de Campo, with the option of in-person or online participation and access to their range of workshops and masterclasses.
