This initiative represents a significant step forward in the center's commitment to the social and professional development of the island. The primary goal is to expand the educational offerings in a predominantly rural area, ensuring that local students do not have to travel long distances to access high-level professional qualifications.
The Higher Degree in Social Integration prepares students to design and implement programs that improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups. On an island like La Palma, where community mediation and diversity care are essential for social well-being, job opportunities are extensive, ranging from municipal social services to NGOs and specialized centers.
A notable aspect of the program is its dual training approach, which includes internships in local companies and administrations. This facilitates direct job placement on the island itself, connecting young talent with the needs of the Palman labor market.
The blended learning modality is one of the major innovations, offering flexibility to a new profile of student: adults who are already working or have family responsibilities and wish to enhance their education without the pressure of mandatory daily attendance. This hybrid format minimizes the need for daily commutes across the island's complex terrain, modernizing education in rural areas with innovative methodologies.
In addition to this new offering, IES Puntagorda maintains its robust educational proposal for the 2026/2027 academic year, which includes Intermediate Level cycles in Auxiliary Nursing Care, Cooking and Gastronomy, Telecommunications Installations, Technician in Oils and Wines, and Basic Vocational Training in Electricity and Electronics, as well as the Higher Degree in Early Childhood Education.
The pre-registration period for applying for a place will be from April 9 to 24. The center's management encourages interested parties to formalize the process through the official link of the Government of the Canary Islands or by directly contacting IES Puntagorda to resolve any questions about the blended learning modality or admission requirements.
