The Civil Guard from the Main Post of Los Llanos de Aridane has launched an investigation into an individual for the alleged theft of over 1,000 agricultural stakes, valued at 8,000 euros, from a banana plantation in the Valle de Aridane.

Agents from the Investigation Area in Los Llanos de Aridane initiated proceedings following a complaint from the property owner. The alleged perpetrator, taking advantage of his residence adjacent to the plantation, continuously accessed the property without raising suspicion, gradually stealing the metal stakes.
These stakes, galvanized iron bars approximately three meters long, are crucial for supporting banana plants, preventing them from bending or falling due to the weight of the bunches. The theft occurred over a prolonged period, accumulating more than a thousand units.
The Civil Guard's inquiries revealed that the suspect had allegedly sold the stolen material on the second-hand market, offering it to other banana farmers at a lower-than-usual price. Thanks to these efforts, 600 of the stolen stakes were located and recovered from plantations in the municipality of Tazacorte.
The recovered stakes have been placed in custody pending the resolution of the corresponding judicial procedure. The instructed proceedings have been forwarded to the Court of First Instance of Los Llanos de Aridane.
