This surge represents a 28.34% growth in seat availability, as confirmed by Raquel Rebollo, the island's Tourism Councillor. Part of this boost is attributed to the entry of Jet2, which will operate two weekly flights from Manchester starting this summer. Additionally, a new connection with Wroclaw and the reintroduction of the flight to Munich with Condor are planned, alongside an increase in seats from Düsseldorf, Germany.
“"This allows us to expand opportunities to reach the island and connect with different international destinations where we continue to strengthen awareness of our island."
Detailed figures, extracted from the Promotur website of the Government of Canarias, show that air seats from the Peninsula and the international market will increase from 99,134 to 123,559, representing a rise of 24,425 seats. Growth is particularly notable in the international sector, with a 44.5% increase, moving from 46,676 to 67,459 seats. National seats will also see a 6.9% rise, reaching 56,100 in 2026, compared to 52,458 the previous year.
Regarding charter flights, forecasts are also positive, with 9,711 seats in the national market and 16,138 in the international market, where the largest increase is concentrated. Notable contributions come from cities such as Katowice, with 5,391 seats; Düsseldorf, with 4,680; Wroclaw, with 3,016; and Denmark, with 3,051.
Finally, the airport's opening has benefited La Palma regionally, with an increase in seat offerings that positions the island to connect with national and international destinations via Binter, without the need for overnight stays, anticipating a rise in tourists through this regional route.
