The Cabildo of La Palma has decided to suspend all official events scheduled for this weekend, including the inauguration of the ‘Tomás Cabrera Martín’ Insular Auditorium, as a gesture of solidarity with Venezuela.

The island institution has chosen to postpone the inauguration of the new ‘Tomás Cabrera Martín’ Insular Auditorium, planned for this Friday, and other official events. This decision is made as a sign of deep solidarity and respect towards the Venezuelan people, given the difficult situation the country is facing.
The president of the Cabildo of La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, emphasized the special connection between the island and Venezuela, stating that “La Palma cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of a land we consider our eighth island.” He highlighted the strong historical ties, including emigration and return, that unite both communities.
The institution believes that holding festive or institutional events at this time would not reflect the sentiment of the Palman population, given the empathy with the Venezuelan situation. This measure aims to convey support, encouragement, and affection to both citizens in Venezuela and the large Venezuelan and returnee community residing in La Palma.
The Cabildo will soon announce new dates for the suspended events once circumstances permit their celebration with the deserved normality. The institution thanks in advance for the understanding of citizens, groups, and authorities related to these events regarding this alteration of the official agenda.
