Eleven people have been rescued by Maritime Rescue from a fishing boat that went adrift over 100 kilometers from Arrecife, Lanzarote, due to a mechanical failure.

The fishing boat's crew requested assistance in the early hours of Sunday morning to the Coordination Center of Las Palmas of Maritime Rescue. Following the call, the rescue vessel Salvamar Al Nair was dispatched to the area.
Other vessels transiting the area were alerted to help pinpoint the distressed boat's exact location. The ship Ciudad de Valencia responded, located the fishing boat, and remained nearby to monitor its safety until the Salvamar arrived.
Due to the significant distance, estimated at about 70 nautical miles from Arrecife, the towing operation could not commence until nine in the morning. The return journey to Lanzarote is expected to conclude around eight in the evening.

"They have confirmed that their crew members, eleven in total, are in good condition."
