A total of 53 people, including five minors and three women, were rescued on Sunday afternoon by Maritime Rescue while traveling aboard a dinghy. They were disembarked hours later at the port of Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote.
The alert about the presence of the precarious vessel was received at 6:22 PM. The dinghy was located northeast of the Jameos del Agua, in the municipality of Haría, in the north of the island.
After assisting all members of the expedition, Maritime Rescue transported them to the port of Los Mármoles, in Arrecife, where they arrived around 11:30 PM.
Once ashore, personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service attended to the migrants and proceeded to evacuate two men to the island's hospital due to minor conditions they presented.
