The San Ginés Festivals in Arrecife will offer a varied program this Saturday, August 22nd, including traditional Canarian music, rap, and family activities. The day will unfold in different parts of Lanzarote's capital, expanding the offerings of the patron saint festivities honoring San Ginés Obispo.
One of the main events is the 37th edition of the Festival Campesino, taking place at 9:30 PM in Parque José Ramírez Cerdá with free admission. The gathering will focus on the music, folklore, and cultural identity of Lanzarote, featuring performances by Los Campesinos, the Tenerife group Los Cantadores, and singer Tamara. Los Cantadores will celebrate their 18-year career by revisiting their hits, while Tamara will contribute her popular music repertoire.
Before the concerts, the Festival Campesino will present the audiovisual “El poema diario de Titerroygatra,” a tribute to key figures of Lanzarote's culture such as César Manrique and José Saramago, among others. Following this, Los Campesinos will take the stage to champion the island's music and roots.
San Ginés Joven, located at the fairground esplanade, will feature urban music from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Malaga-born rapper Delaossa, known for his latest work "La Madrugá," will headline the event. Also performing will be Madrid artist Reality, with a solid rap career, and opportunities for Canarian talent with DJ Conjurer and local artist DJ Diego.
The Fiesta de la Chola, held in Parque Islas Canarias, will offer a family-friendly day lasting over ten hours (1:30 PM - 11:30 PM). It will feature a performance by Chilean singer Américo, along with DJ Basilio Coco, Mambo con Fuego, the group Malpeis, and DJ Maxi Ferrer. The celebration will include a hat contest in three categories: individual, couple, and groups.
Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Festivals, Echedey Eugenio, and Councilor for Youth, Rosmen Quevedo, have highlighted the diverse age groups targeted by the activities. The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has defended the family-oriented nature of the Fiesta de la Chola.
