The municipal transport service in Arrecife has recorded a total of 200,733 passengers between January and April 2026, representing a 13.17% increase compared to the same period last year.

The capital of Lanzarote is consolidating an upward trend in public transport usage. During the first four months of 2025, the number of passengers stood at 177,370, a figure that has been significantly surpassed this year thanks to the modernization strategy promoted by the City Council.
Growth has been particularly significant following the deployment of new units, including six electric and accessible buses. According to municipal data, passenger flow maintained a steady progression, reaching 53,799 users in the month of April alone.
The investment allocated to this fleet renewal amounts to nearly five million euros from municipal funds. The strategic plan focuses not only on acquiring electric and high-capacity vehicles but also on improving user information and the future hiring of new drivers.
Looking ahead, the mobility department is working on optimizing direct routes and reducing waiting times. Additionally, two new long-format buses are expected to arrive before the end of the year, alongside the renovation of bus shelters and the implementation of a mobile application for real-time tracking.
