Intense wind gusts recorded in Lanzarote, exceeding 75 kilometers per hour, have forced the organizers of the Sonidos Líquidos festival to make the drastic decision to suspend its 2026 edition. The cancellation became effective at midday this Saturday, the scheduled date for the event at the esplanade of Bodegas La Geria.
The festival's promoter announced the suspension via social media, explaining that wind conditions had worsened and forecasts indicated an increase in intensity. Faced with this scenario, the priority was to ensure the safety of attendees, artists, and technical staff, which was the primary reason for the cancellation.
The decision, made after analyzing meteorological developments and coordinating with competent safety authorities, affects all individuals involved in the event. Organizers stated that there were no guarantees for holding the festival under adequate conditions, deeming the measure exceptional as the event, now in its 16th year, had never been suspended before.
The organization expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and announced that information regarding refunds for tickets and associated transport would be provided in the coming days. The festival, which had sold out its capacity, attracts 70% of its audience from outside Lanzarote.
This year's lineup included artists such as The Molotovs, Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, Ángel Stanich, Nortec: Bostich + Fussible, Go Cactus, La 126, DJ Dara Ortega, and the emerging band Good Franco. Previously, Ginebras had cancelled their performance due to personal family reasons.
