The sports complex Club La Santa has announced its decision to cease organizing and naming the Ironman Lanzarote from 2027, ending a 34-year partnership with the prestigious triathlon event.
Since its inception in 1992, Club La Santa has been a cornerstone in the history of Ironman Lanzarote, welcoming over 50,000 athletes to the island. Its dedication has been crucial in establishing Lanzarote as a global benchmark for long-distance and adventure sports, leaving a significant legacy in sports, culture, and tourism.
Despite this disengagement, both organizations have expressed openness to future collaborations, highlighting the strong relationship built over decades. The Cabildo de Lanzarote has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the continuity of the Ironman brand on the island.

"We are deeply grateful to Club La Santa for the exceptional collaboration and commitment they have provided to this race since 1992. They have been the best possible organizers of Ironman Lanzarote, and we could not have found a better or more passionate partner. Our sincere gratitude goes to the entire Club La Santa team, whose dedication to the athletes and our sport has helped make this event one of the most iconic races on the global Ironman calendar."
Ironman Lanzarote is renowned for its challenging course and natural beauty, which includes swimming in Playa Grande, cycling through Timanfaya National Park and the lunar-like vineyards of La Geria, and running along the Puerto del Carmen promenade. The event has attracted prominent figures such as Lucy Charles-Barclay, winner in 2017 and 2025, and Jan Frodeno, who competed in 2016.
“
"We would like to thank all the public institutions that have supported the event throughout its history and have shared our commitment to working for the benefit of the island. Although we will not be organizing Ironman Lanzarote from 2027, the Ironman family (athletes, volunteers, partners, etc.) will always be special to Club La Santa, and we will continue to support in every possible way."
Club La Santa has reiterated its commitment to sports promotion, announcing that it will continue to organize other renowned events such as the Vuelta Ciclista a Lanzarote, the Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon, and the 4 Stage MTB Race Lanzarote, among others, with the aim of maintaining Lanzarote as a leading destination for sports tourism.
