The ‘Healthy Walks’ program, driven by Primary Care of the Lanzarote Health Area, has been awarded Best Active Aging Project by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The initiative, which promotes physical activity, healthy habits, and social relationships among seniors, received the award this Friday, October 2nd, during the III Awards Gala for the Elderly in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The event was held at the Casa-Museo Monumento al Campesino.
These awards, granted by the Department of Seniors and Intergenerational Relations of the Cabildo, aim to highlight and honor the contributions of individuals, groups, and entities actively working for the well-being and social integration of seniors on the islands. The recognition for ‘Healthy Walks’ emphasizes the use of physical activity and social contact as tools to improve quality of life.
Driven by nurses from the island's health centers, the project encourages the incorporation of daily physical exercise and creates a meeting space that fosters social relationships, combats isolation, and strengthens bonds.
The project is part of the health promotion and disease prevention efforts undertaken by Primary Care, generating community spaces for active aging.
