The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival has appointed Juan Sebastián Domínguez as its stage designer for the 2027 edition, bringing his extensive experience in major productions.
The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has announced the appointment of Cadiz-based stage designer Juan Sebastián Domínguez as the head of stage design for the 2027 edition. Domínguez, an art director and scenic designer with a notable national and international career in theater, musicals, and television, joins the creative team aiming to merge the shared cultural traditions between Cadiz and Santa Cruz through their respective carnivals.
Born in Cadiz, a city with strong historical, cultural, and carnival ties to Santa Cruz, Domínguez holds a degree in Scenography from the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Art of Madrid (RESAD). He furthered his studies at the Université d’Artois in France and the Center for Spectacle Technology in Madrid. His resume includes art direction for the Spanish delegation at Eurovision 2024, artistic direction for Lola Índigo's latest concert tour, and work on high-profile programs such as Got Talent, The Dancer, and Idol Kids.
Among his most significant works are scenic proposals for the National Dramatic Center, including Escuadra hacia la muerte, Jardiel, Un escritor de ida y vuelta, and Un bar bajo la arena. He has also collaborated on major musical events with international reach and broadcasts, as well as productions linked to the Max Awards, Benidorm Fest, and other top-tier stage formats.
