The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has finalized the Aquatic Lifeguarding course within the “Talento Joven” program. This initiative, aimed at enhancing the professional skills of young people and promoting their labor market insertion, was made possible through the collaboration and co-financing of the European Social Fund (FSE+) and the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
A total of 22 young individuals, aged between 16 and 29 and registered in the Youth Guarantee system, have successfully completed the 150 hours of in-person training. The financial support from the FSE+ and the island council is crucial for consolidating strategic projects on the island, effectively addressing the growing demand for specialized personnel in the island's nautical, hotel, and leisure facilities.

The training program covered accident prevention, effective water rescue, and immediate first aid application. Throughout the course, students addressed specific content including lifeguarding in swimming pools and their sanitary conditions for collective use, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), choking response, and the use of the semi-connected external defibrillator (AED). Furthermore, the training delved into occupational risk prevention in aquatic environments and the refinement of swimming techniques.
With the conclusion of this training initiative, the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa reaffirms its commitment to unemployed youth, demonstrating that collaboration between public administrations and the chamber sector is the most effective tool for generating real employment opportunities and meeting the needs of the local business community.
