This growth in healthcare activity is attributed to the addition of a new specialist, bringing the total number of pneumologists to six, and a reorganization of services that has increased weekly consultations from five to nine. These measures have enhanced the department's response capacity and patient care.
In addition to increased consultations, the department performed 3,868 diagnostic tests during the first nine months of the year, crucial for the detection and monitoring of respiratory diseases. This work is supported by three nurses and an auxiliary nursing technician.
A significant advancement is the introduction in February of endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), a minimally invasive technique for precise diagnosis of pulmonary and mediastinal diseases. A total of 12 procedures have been carried out using this technology, preventing patients from needing to travel to other centers.
Pablo Eguia, manager of Lanzarote's Health Services, stated that these improvements reinforce the department's activity and diagnostic capabilities, expanding healthcare services available to the island's population.
