Last Saturday night marked the conclusion of the 26th Lanzarote International Film Festival. The awards ceremony took place at the Teatro El Salinero in Arrecife, where five jury prizes and four special mentions were announced. Additionally, the audience selected two creations for special awards.
In the international section, the award went to the short film 'Icarus', directed by Christos Kardana. The animation category honored 'Susurros', a work by a team of French creators. The award for best documentary was given to '123 semillas de Nim', by director of Murcian descent Adrián Buenaventura.
On the national level, the jury awarded 'Te debo una', by Ranti Capuz and Diego Jiménez. In the category dedicated to cinema made in the Canary Islands, the top prize was for 'Cuenta atrás', by Iván Umpiérrez.
Special mentions included 'Azul' by Adrián Viador for Canary Islands shorts, and 'Fue un verano' by Sandra del Olmo at the national level. In documentaries, the mention went to 'Las malas' by Elisa Moreno, while internationally, 'Agapito', by Arvin Belarmino and Kyla, was recognized.
Audience awards honored 'Icarus' in the international category and the animation 'Susurros'. The jury for this edition included professionals such as Arantxa Echevarría, Carlos Bardem, and Ruth Gabriel, among others. The festival was supported by the Cabildo de Lanzarote and other institutions.
