Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista renewed its leadership bodies in Lanzarote and La Graciosa this Saturday during its II Isla-Hogar Convention in Arrecife, setting the political roadmap for the upcoming electoral cycle.

The event was attended by local spokespersons, national president Natalia Santana, national organization secretary Ayoze Corujo, and general secretary Luis Campos. During the day, the Insular Tagoror-Assembly and the Insular Sábor-Executive were renewed. Belén Machín was elected president of the insular bodies, while Yoné Caraballo will assume the role of insular secretary.
The most significant political announcement was Caraballo's decision to lead NC-BC's candidacy for the Cabildo of Lanzarote in the May 2027 elections. Under the slogan 'Recover Lanzarote', the project aims to restore prominence to the Lanzarote society against a model that, in his view, has sidelined it from key decisions.
Caraballo defended the need to regain control over sustainability, housing, water, land management, and public services. Regarding tourism, he committed to implementing a moratorium to halt unchecked development and prevent new tourist beds, prioritizing residents' quality of life.
On the housing access crisis, he proposed market intervention, capping rental prices, and increasing taxes on property speculators. He also advocated for the recovery of a fully public water cycle managed directly by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, ensuring an efficient public service.

"Recovering Lanzarote also means defending strong, quality public services for all citizens."

Finally, Caraballo defended public healthcare, expressing support for the recent demonstration in defense of the Insular Hospital. The convention concluded with the membership's endorsement of the new team and the organization's commitment to building a political alternative for Lanzarote and La Graciosa for the 2027 elections.
